Map Engineering

State of the Map 2011

Dear all,

The mapping world is evolving even faster these days. Data providers are currently restructuring their business, Microsoft and Nokia are moving together more closely and above all Steve Jobs resigned from his job. With this in mind, we are sure: The State of the Map 2011 will be an outstanding event - discussing global mapping opportunities with OpenStreetMappers from around the world.

Unfortunately LOGIBALL, sponsor of the State of the Map since its beginning, will not participate with any personnel this time. Even though we are buried with work, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to provide the community with a short sum-up of our thoughts and ideas:

LLOGIBALL’s Quality Grid, which we presented last year in Spain, showing a detailed analysis of OpenStreetMap in comparison to traditional maps, is getting more and more important in our daily business. The reason-why? The high actuality and the depth of information make the OpenStreetMap-data increasingly attractive for business applications.

LWe noticed this on the increasing number of client requests. So we decided to expand the GridGlobe idea and launched a new application for iPad and iPhone leveraging business opportunities by presenting statistics and analytics for several industries.

LWith our long-term experience in the fields of map engineering we are positioning ourselves as service provider for maps and location intelligence filling the gap between OSM and commercial needs. Because for sure OSM is ready for business.

Enjoy your time in Denver and above all - have a lot of fun.

Take care,
Roger Mueller
